Rapid Prototyping with Stereolithography

Pricing Information

San Diego State University's Facility for Applied Manufacturing Enterprise (FAME) (http://rohan.sdsu.edu/dept/medept/cim.html )is pleased to announce the availability of rapid prototyping services. These services are performed on a 3D Systems Model SLA-190 stereolithography machine with a working volume of roughly 7" x 7" x 7". The material used is a UV cured non-hygroscopic epoxy polymer with superior toughness, stiffness, and dimensional stability. Detail resolution in the prototype of 2.5 mils is possible. SLA and STL are the preferred input model file formats, although IGES files are acceptable. Ask about our related Pro/ENGINEER design services for creating your 3D parametric model.

A typical prototyping session will require between 6 and 24 hours of machine time (although large models may take twice as long), 2-4 hours of file setup time, and optional part finishing may take between 1 and 3 hours. Typical turn around time: 1-3 business days. Visit our SLA web site at http://www-rohan.sdsu.edu/dept/medept/sla/tutor.htm.

Our basic rates are as follows:

$75/hr of file setup time (minimum 1hr)

$40/hr of machine run time

$25/hr of part finishing
