Student Research Projects
MOGO the Motorized Bicycle Project
This project was conceived as an SDSU Mechanical Engineering Department
Senior Design effort. Manufacturing was performed in the Facility for
Applied Manufacturing Enterprise using CNC methodologies. The photographs
and captions below outline the product features and construction.

Mogoª is a pedal assisted motorized bicycle.

It is powered by a small 4-stroke gasoline engine through a flexible
shaft.

The transmission unit is mated to a conventional off-road bicycle frame.

Gear reduction is achieved through spur and worm gearing.

The transmission housing was machined using MasterCAM

Pedal assist is permitted at any time through a clutch mechanism.

A twist-grip throttle controls the engine speed.

Mogo is a complete and highly functional product.
